In the last six months, Salsipuedes has boomed from a population of twenty to over two thousand and it looks to keep on growing. Prospectors and miners, and those who thrive on prospectors and miners, from around the world are converging on this patch of Nevada scrubland. The Denver & Pacific Railroad has just extended a spur line from Fort 51 to Salsipuedes.
The name Salsipuedes is attributed to the Spanish explorer Juan Bautista Cabeza de Vaca who made that notation, probably as a warning to future travelers, on his map of the area.
Prior to the discovery of ghostrock, the State of Nevada had opened the Yucca Flats Penitentiary about ten miles north of town.
